A crypto index is a selection of cryptocurrencies, each with its own weightings, which tracks a certain sector or the overall crypto market.

For example, many investors might want exposure to DeFi, but do not have the time or desire to hold several cryptocurrencies. A DeFi index provides instant exposure to DeFi via one token. (More in our Guide To DeFi Indices resource.)
